HYDERABAD: Six persons have died in accidents related to Ganesh immersion procession in various parts of the city since Sunday.Three persons were electrocuted after the vehicle in which they were transporting a Ganesh idol for immersion came into contact with live wires on city outskirts on Sunday night. The incident took place in Mallampet village under the Dundigal police limits. Locals had taken out a procession of the Ganesh idol to immerse in the nearby Katwa lake. As the DCM van reached the Pochamma temple around 11 p.m, the vehicle came in contact with electrical wires which supply power to the village. All those travelling and in direct contact with the vehicle suffered shock. Three persons, Eshwaraiah (50), Sarvayya Chary (33) and Sangameshwar (30) got electrocuted and died instantly while four others suffered injuries and were shifted to hospital.In another incident, a resident of Hydershah Kot, B Sudhakar (40) drowned in the Peeram Cheruvu when he went to immerse a Ganesh idol installed in their locality. A youngster, B Prabhakar fell to death while dancing in front of a idol at Vanasthalipuram. A resident of Vanashtalipuram, Prabhakar was dancing in front of the idol during the immersion procession when he reportedly fell down in an inebriated condition. Prabhakar suffered head injuries and died while undergoing treatment.In another accident, Chandrasekhar (44), a resident of Ram Reddy Nagar fell down from the vehicle while returning to home after immersing a Ganesh idol. The driver of the vehicle applied sudden brake at a high speed and Chandrasekhar fell down and suffered severe injuries. He was shifted to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries.In other incident, 12 persons were injured after the vehicle in which they were returning after immersing a Ganesh idol overturned at Suraram on Monday morning. Locals of Suraram were returning after immersing the idol, when the auto in which they were travelling turned turtle at Saibaba Nagar crossroads resulting in injuries to occupants.
