Shooter will be nabbed soon: CB

KOCHI: After a long-drawnout investigation, the Crime Branch has reportedly zeroed in on the killer of VM Mohan aka Mithila Mohan who was shot dead at his residence at Palarivattom on April 6, 2006. According to sources, the police have concrete evidence on the location of the suspect.“The case is in its final stage. We have strong evidence against the persons involved in the case. The investigation team will soon reach Mangalore to nab the suspect, and we will get a better picture once we take him into custody,” Crime Branch sources said.As per the available evidences, the Crime Branch suspects that business rivalry had led to the murder of Mithila Mohan.“Once we take the shooter into custody, we would be able to trace the person/s who plotted the murder,” Crime Branch sources said.V M Mohan, owner of Mithila Bar Hotel, Eramalloor, was shot by a 0.32 revolver by unidentified persons.The police collected empty cases of bullets from the site of the crime.According to the police, the murder was a wellplanned one as a major chunk of the city’s police force was deployed to provide security to an international cricket match played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kaloor.The case was handed over to the Crime Branch on June 17, 2006, but no arrests have been made so far. The CB had suspected the involvement of an underworld shooter, Satish Kalia and another person from Champakara.However, both of them were cleared of any involvement in the case.
