Congress leader DK Shivakumar hinted that he may go for foreign tour soon. Speaking to reporters here on Monday, he said that MLAs, who are on a foreign tour have gone after finishing their responsibilities of drought relief works in their respective constituencies and works assigned by their respective party.
“As I am assigned by high command of the party, I am touring north Karnataka to study the drought situation. So there is nothing wrong in leaving for foreign tour after performing my duties,” he added.
Regarding his alleged involvement in illegal mining, he said that he will prove his integrity at suitable time. He termed S R Hiremath, who is fighting against illegal mining as an agent of Janata Dal (Secular).
“Hiremath has proved his favouritism towards JD(S) by remaining mute over H D Kumaraswamy ’s involvement in the case,’ he added.
After reviewing seven villages in Savadatti and Bailhongal taluks of Belgaum district, he said that the team found that no relif works were being undertaken in the affected villages. He added that the team had video recorded the visit to these drought-hit places and also the statements of the villagers who disclosed the truth.
Shivakumar alleged that the District In-charge Minister Umesh Katti had not visited a single affected village and no BJP legislator also came to the villages under their constituencies.
