Shahid Malik new Pak envoy to India
Pakistan has appointed Shahid Malik as the country's new High Commissioner to India.

Islamabad: Pakistan has appointed Shahid Malik as the country's new High Commissioner to India.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on Friday, Malik is currently serving as Pakistan's High Commissioner to Canada.

Malik, who will succeed Aziz Ahmad Khan, joined the foreign services in 1972. He has held various diplomatic posts in Pakistani missions abroad, including Tokyo (1974-78), Rome (1978-80), Washington (1986-92), and New Delhi (1992-1995).

He also served at the Headquarters in Islamabad as Section Officer (1973-1974 & 1981-83) Director (1983-86) and Director General (1996) and Additional Foreign Secretary (2001-2002).

Malik has a master's degree in economics and has been a member, Directing Staff at the Civil Services Academy, Lahore (1996-2001).
