KOCHI: The explanation given by the District Collector in connection with the handing over of Maharaja’s College land to Brahmana Sabha is misleading and factually wrong, according to the SFI. According to the press release, the land under survey number 1573 of Ernakulam village should be handed over to the Brahmana Sabha on lease for 30 years. Of the 21-and-a-quarter cents of land, a 4-metre-wide path has been given for the corporation quarters. According the order, the remaining land has to be handed over to the Sabha, said the SFI, but the collector has stated the only 7 cents of land would be handed over, it said. The land meant to be handed over is within the women’s hostel and college premises, according to the records in the village office, it said. This brings out the ploy of the UDF government, it said. The issue should be sorted out, said SFI district president Antony John and secretary M M Girish. If the Government Order which affects the college and hostel is not annulled, the SFI would resort to stirs, they said.
