The district administration on Friday disbursed compensation to those injured in the July 2 IOCL firing incident. Out of the seven injured, five received financial assistance from the Kujang tehsildar.
The family members of Prafulla Majhi, who had sustained serious injuries during the clash between CISF and IOCL workers, were provided `3 lakh while Tusar Rout and Ramesh Rout received ` 1.50 lakh each. Similarly, Kailash Das and Kabir Nath received an assistance of `40,000 each.
Two other workers, Manoj Kumar Nayak and Subash Moharana, who were to receive ` 1.50 lakh each, remained absent.
Meanwhile, union leader Nirvya Samantray criticised the IOCL authorities for going back on their promise to provide financial assistance of ` 10 lakh to the injured.Instead, only ` 9.80 lakh was deposited, he added.
Kujang tehsildar Rabindanath Kanahar said the remaining two workers would be provided compensation in a day or two.
