THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A group of volunteers who provided free tuition to the inmates of Sree Chithra Home (SCH) for Destitute and Infirm are trying all they can to appoint resident tutors for the students. In a bid to defend themselves against the allegation raised by the SCH authorities and to give the public more awareness about the happenings in SCH, the volunteers have started a blog, www.chithrahome.blogspot.com.The then superintendent Elsy Abraham had ousted the volunteers alleging that they were promoting superstitions. However, the volunteers say it was a plot to oust them for opposing the activities of the superintendent. Based on the complaints of the volunteers, the then Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan had given directions for the appointment of resident tutors and wardens. One year has passed and the SCH authorities have still not made the appointments. The volunteers have posted various reports of meetings held and news reports which throw light on the incidents that have occurred in the past one year. The volunteers believe that the studies of poor students cannot be compromised. They say the SCH authorities are giving least regard for this. The blog also posted the link of the study conducted by the Kerala State Social Security Mission, which unveils some of the issues in the working of the SCH.
