New Delhi: Ye aant nahi ye toh shuruat hai, (this is not the end; it is just a beginning), claims Aamir Khan. For all those who were missing Aamir Khan's weekly dose of social message, a special episode of ‘Satyamev Jayate’ was aired on Independence Day. ‘Satyamev Jayate ka Safar’ was basically the summary of Aamir Khan’s 13 week stint on Indian television. In the special episode, Aamir Khan talked about the changes ‘Satyamev Jayate’ has induced in the society and the phenomenal response he received for the show.
‘Satyamev Jayate’ undoubtedly started with a bang. Aamir revealed that he was planning to make a show on social issues from past three years. His team worked for more than a year on the show. They went to different parts of the country in search of people who wanted to share their stories. Uday Shankar, CEO, Star India said that it was Aamir’s idea to collaborate with Doordarshan so that the show can reach to maximum number of people in the country. Hindi was chosen as the primary language for the show and it was also dubbed in other languages like Marathi, Tamil, Bengali, Telugu and others.
As Aamir claims, after the telecast of first episode, ‘Satyamev Jayate’ became the most talked about topic on Twitter worldwide. Through internet and digital media, ‘Satyamev Jayate’ received 1 billion impressions. A team of thousand people read and analyzed all the messages addressed to ‘Satyamev Jayate’.
Aamir also introduced his core team of ‘Satyamev Jayate’ during the show. It includes director of the show Satyajit Bhatkal, co-director Svati Chakravarty and head of research Lancy Fernandes.
The first episode of ‘Satyamev Jayate’ talked about female foeticide in India. Aamir Khan won hearts with the first episode itself. He revealed that after the telecast of first episode many organisation across the country started campaigns against female foeticide and many doctors were also arrested. The NGOs associated with the show have also been benefitted to a great extent. Apart from the charity amount, ‘Satyamev Jayate’ brought them into limelight and more people want to be associated with them. Aamir talked about all the episode in brief.
Aamir Khan reminded us of the ‘Surabhi’ days when he read messages from the viewers during the show. While some of the messages were from people who wanted to share their stories, many others appreciated Aamir for his effort and encouraging them to do something for the country. Towards the end of the show, Aamir Khan said that India is changing and people want change for a better future, better India. Do you agree with him?
Overall, ‘Satyamev Jayate ka Safar’ focused more on Aamir Khan’s success story and less on India or Independence Day. It looked more like a promo of ‘Satyamev Jayate’ season 2.
