HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) will take up works worth Rs 90 lakh, to improve water supply in Vanasthalipuram NGO Colony, Gaddianaram and nearby areas. Most of these areas are getting drinking water once in every three days or twice a week, causing hardships to residents.M Jagadeeshwar, HMWS&SB managing director, LB Nagar MLA D Sudheer Reddy, director (Technical) S Prabhakar Sharma and other Water Board officials inspected areas under O&M division X on Wednesday. While interacting with locals, officials received several complaints about poor water supply in their localities. Locals said even after the matter was brought to notice of Board officials, no steps were taken to rectify the problems. Later, they visited the NGO Colony in Vanasthalipuram, where residents requested improvement in frequency of water supply in their area. Sudheer Reddy requested the MD to solve the long-pending issues and the Water Board MD agreed to sanction Rs 90 lakh for the same. Later, they visited Mudiraj Basti and Anamgal areas in Hayathnagar where locals complained of low pressure. Board officials assured to lay bigger pipelines in Mudiraj Basti within 15 days to solve the problem. Jagadeeshwar said the Board would sanction Rs 30 lakh to improve water supply in Anamgal. They also visited localities near the Word and Deed College in Hayathnagar, where officials instructed to survey the area and submit comprehensive proposals for setting up new supply lines.
