CHENNAI: Sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation caught a Railway Protection Force head constable red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 at Central railway station on Thursday. The accused had allegedly demanded the bribe to facilitate the smooth dispatch of parcels by train wagons.Officials said they laid a trap to apprehend the accused after the Anti Corruption Branch of the CBI registered a case based on a complaint made by A Senthil, proprietor of APS Cargo Movers on Thursday that S Gurusamy, head constable of RPF attached to Central railway station had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 for the smooth dispatch of parcels to various places through wagons. Officials said that the complainant, Senthil, stated he was threatened that if he did not hand over the bribe amount on Thursday, the parcels would be detained on the grounds of security or safety.CBI officials who registered a case under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, caught Gurusamy red-handed when he accepted the bribe from Senthil.
