HYDERABAD: Former chief minster K Rosaiah's visit to Delhi for a meeting with party president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday has set off speculation that he might be considered for a gubernatorial assignment.Though Rosaiah himself said he was not being summoned by the party and that he himself sought an appointment with Sonia Gandhi, political circles wonder whether he might be considered for a governor's post.Very recently, Rosaiah has written to Sonia Gandhi on the need for strengthening the party and that changing chief ministers frequently was no solution to the problem. He wanted a thorough overhaul of the set-up to enable the party bounce back in time for the next general election in the wake of drubbing it had received in the Kadapa by-election.What has lent credence to the speculation is that Sonai Gandhi met another former minister and Rajya Sabha member N Janardhan Reddy on Monday. Reddy is also eyeing the post of a governor. He apprised the party president of the state of affairs in the party in the state and complained to her that Kiran Kumar Reddy was not consulting him on decisions to make the party strong.According to sources, Rosaiah and Janardhan Reddy might be sent as governors which would make one Rajya Sabha seat fall vacant. The party is considering sending PRP president Chiranjeevi to the Upper House to fill up the vacancy in a thanksgiving gesture to him for merging his party with the Congress. As far as Rosaiah is concerned, there are also doubts whether he would be considered for a gubernatorial posting at all since there is a case pending against him registered by the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
