BANGALORE: The residents of Lakkasandra protested against residual water from the plant belonging to Bangalore Dairy flowing into the drain near their area.Residents allege that contaminated residual water from the Bangalore Dairy plant nearby has continued to enter the drains in Lakkasandra for the past five months. They have had to bear the stench emanating from the drain and have had no respite despite lodging regular complaints.On Monday morning, the residual waste water from the plant leaked from the drain and flooded the streets in the area. Residents, who were joined by Mahesh Babu, Member, BBMP, stopped the vehicles entering Bangalore Dairy as a mark of their protest.Lakkasandra residents have complained to the Director of the plant asking him to prevent the flow of waste water into the common drain. But despite registering complaints for over six months, there has been no response from Bangalore Dairy. Those protesting also fear that the waste water entering the drain and the subsequent smell emanating from it could cause serious illnesses and spread diseases in the area.
