HYDERABAD: The counselling process of Eamcet-2012 is again getting delayed this year too, despite all efforts by officials to begin it as per schedule.Though the Andhra Pradesh State Council for Technical Education (APSCHE) was making arrangements to conduct counselling early, the process has been delayed with high court directing officials to conduct a re-examination for thousands of candidates, who had missed the intermediate advanced supplementary physics examination. The counselling, particularly in the engineering stream, is being delayed for various reasons every year. A reason like delay in getting permission from All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) for engineering colleges seems to be a major one. The postponed counselling process is also delaying commencement of first year engineering classes, in the state, every year.Last year, the first phase of engineering counselling commenced in July and the second phase of counselling begun in the first week of September. The state government has asked AICTE to give permissions for new colleges, additional seats and renewal of existing colleges at the earliest, to start counselling. A few days back, AICTE director and regional officer RK Gangal had told Express that they had prepared to complete the approval process, by the end of May, to facilitate the officials, to conduct counselling, as early as possible. But, with the high court directive to conduct a reexamination for second year intermediate students, who had missed attending the physics advanced supplementary examination held on May 16, the Eamcet-2012 counselling was again being delayed.Thousands of candidates had missed the physics examination, as the management of the colleges had failed to remit their fee with BIE in time, despite collecting the money from the students. Dy chief minister and higher education minister, Damodara Rajanarasimha said here on Saturday that they had yet to receive the copy of HC verdict and they will take a decision after going through the order. At one stage, APSCHE had contemplated to start the first phase counselling, excluding intermediate advance supplementary students, but they had to withdraw their attempt following massive opposition from students. In an effort to start counselling early, the BIE is preparing to release advanced supplementary results on June 15. It takes only two days to announce Eamcet marks, ranks to APSCHE. They have all planned to start counselling in the last week of June.
