Leh: Houses, roads, schools all have been washed away including the school, made popular after Aamir Khan shot there for his film 'Three Idiots'. But all 190 students of Rancho's school are evacuated.
The Druk Pema school which falls just 15 km outside Leh town on the Leh-Manali highway was washed away after two cloudbursts led to flash floods and mudslides in the region. The school's come to known as Rancho's school after the success of Amir Khan's film.
Foreign tourists trapped
Several foreigners were among the tourists reported to be stranded as air links were snapped. "Some foreign nationals are reported to have been affected in the natural calamity," a statement by the External Affairs Ministry said.
It gave the satellite phone number of the control room of the Leh district administration for those wanting to find information. The number is 00870-7636-13623. A 24-hour helpline has also been set up in the control room. The numbers are 09906990787 and 09906990835.
