Rajasthan Congress on Wednesday assailed the Vasundhra Raje-led government over the hike in bus fares from June 1, saying the BJP came to power at the Centre and in the state by making inflation an issue.
"People in Rajasthan would never have 'achche din' (good days) ahead, whether the BJP rules in Rajasthan or at the Centre," PCC Spokesperson Archna Sharma said.
Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) on Tuesday announced a hike in bus fares in all the categories by 11 to 16 per cent.
Revised fares would be effective from June 1.
The fare has been increased by 11 per cent in general and express service categories, and from 14 to 16 per cent in the categories of semi-delux, delux and AC services.
The RSRTC had last revised fare in September 2012.
"In last five months of its rule the Raje government's decision of 60-days plan work pushed up the inflation further, and yesterday's decision of RSRTC to hike the bus fare by 11 to 16 per cent would further put a financial burden on the common man," Sharma said.
Earlier, the Raje government curtailed 30 per cent concession offered by the Congress government to people above 60 years and women, she accused.
