Lucknow: Moderate to heavy rain/thundershowers which lashed most parts of Uttar Pradesh in the past 24 hours came as a dampener for farmers whose ready crops suffered losses due to it.
MeT department here said that heavy rain/thundershowers occurred at isolated places over east Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav reviewed the losses to the Rabi crop because of the rain and hailstorm at some places in the state, an official spokesperson said.
Yadav instructed the officials concerned to assess the losses caused to the crop by conducting a survey and provide necessary relief as per the rules. He warned that laxity of any kind would not be tolerated in this connection, the spokesperson said.
Chief amount of rainfall recorded is - Kanpur-10, Muzaffarnagar, Baberu, Bindki, Mawana-5 each, Nazibabad, Banda, Meerut, Naraini, Rampur-4 each, Lucknow, Hardoi, Attara and Mirzapur-3 each.
Day temperatures largely fell in Gorakhpur, Faizabad, Allahabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Jhansi, Agra, Meerut divisions and markedly fell in the remaining divisions in the state.
They were largely below normal in Faizabad, Allahabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Jhansi, Agra, Meerut divisions, markedly below normal in Gorakhpur division and were appreciably below normal in the remaining divisions in the state.
Highest maximum temperature in the state was 27.8 degrees Celsius recorded at Shahjahanpur and lowest minimum temperature over the state was 13.5 degrees Celsius recorded at Nazibabad.
MeT department has forecast that rain/thundershowers would occur at few places over the state on Tuesday. Weather would be dry on March 4, the forecast said.
