MADURAI: A team of members of Rapid Action Force (RAF) who arrived here to study the geographical limit of the Madurai city, made its visit to the Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple on Sunday.The force, comprising 95 members having its headquarters in Coimbatore, reached Madurai on Saturday to access the current situation in the city. It will also make a detailed study about the same for which the team will stay for the next one week.During their visit to the temple to inspect the vantage points in it whereby they will have the easy access in case of any emergency, Deputy Commander Sharma told the reporters that their group would take care of the security during the emergency in the four states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra pradesh. The force would be pressed into service in the four states in case of any difficult situation such as terrorist attack etc and they would take control of the situation. The team selected Madurai to conduct the field training to the commandos. Importantly, the world famous Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple was chosen for the training. In the temple, the team was instructed about the infrastructure by the Teppakulam Assistant commissioner of Police S Dhanapal. Besides, the team will extend their visit to the Thilagar Thidal police station, Railway junction, Mattuthavani bus stand, Thirumalai Naicker Palace, Tirupparanakundram, Alagarkoil and some other places and important streets in the city, he said. By making the commandos familiar with the city, they would be able to act swiftly when the difficult situation arises in the city in future, he said.The group also included eight number of female commandos.
