Chandigarh: Punjab government on Wednesday said that it will soon provide jobs to the dependents of victims of 1984 anti-Sikh riots and terrorism.
Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal assured the wards of 1984 riots and terrorism victims that the state will soon provide compassionate jobs to them and instructed heads of departments to expedite the process in this regard. He also promised government job to Paralympics athlete Balwinder Kaur Noori.
Sukhbir issued these instructions after listening to the grievances of people at weekly Sangat Darshan programme. He also issued instructions to give a government job to Paralympics athlete Balwinder Kaur. Kaur told the Deputy CM that she had won 15 gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze medals besides bagging the Bronze medal in World Athletics meet held in February 2014, an official spokesman said.
On the plea of Punjab Police Welfare Association, Sukhbir asked his Principal Secretary PS Aujla to look into the problems being faced by the dependents of police officers who sacrificed their life during terrorism, in getting pension after superannuation period.
