Puja Khedkar Claims She Didn’t Get Candidature Cancellation Order, UPSC Replies
Puja Khedkar moved Delhi High Court on Monday challenging the Union Public Service Commission’s decision to cancel her candidature

Sacked IAS trainee Puja Khedkar claimed in the Delhi High Court on Wednesday that she is yet to receive the order cancelling her candidature by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and she only got to know about it via media. UPSC, on the other hand, said the press release regarding the cancellation of Khedkar’s candidature was meant to “communicate” since her “whereabouts were unknown”.

Puja Khedkar had moved Delhi High Court on Monday challenging the Union Public Service Commission’s decision to cancel her candidature. The matter was heard by a bench headed by Justice Jyoti Singh.

Arguing in the high court, senior Advocate Indira Jaising appearing for Khedkar said, “The strange thing about this case is that the order cancelling my candidature has not been handed over to me till date. All I have is the press release The press release has to be quashed, they have to supply me the order so that I can approach the appropriate tribunal.” Jaising stressed that the entire case is being “played out in the press”.

“The need for a press release was because her whereabouts are unknown. The press release is an intimation,” Advocate Naresh Kaushik appearing for UPSC argued.

UPSC further informed the Delhi High Court that it will communicate to Puja Khedkar within two days the formal order cancelling her candidature permanently.

Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court asked Khedkar to approach the Central Administrative Tribunal to challenge the cancellation of her candidature.
