Prohibitory orders issued in Shamli after protests over BKU leader's remarks

Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC have been issued for Shamli district in the wake of protests by locals over alleged remarks by Bharatiya Kisan Union leaders, officials said.

District Magistrate NP Singh told reporters on Tuesday that the move is aimed at maintaining the law and order situation in the district after locals held protests and burnt effigies of BKU leader Naresh Tikait over objectionable remarks which were allegedly made by him.
