KOCHI: To make vacation more entertaining, the District Child Welfare Society and Heart Light Association are organising various entertaining programmes for children at Priyadarshini Children’s Park from April 4 to May 30.District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth, who is also the chairman of the District Child Welfare Society said that they have arranged an array of programmes which will not only entertain children but also enlighten them. “The programmes will include international film festival for children, screening of documentaries prepared by children and public relations department, painting festivals, environmental awareness sessions and many other. Also, there will be a session to create awareness about filmmaking,” he said.Veteran actors and directors will train students on different aspects of filmmaking. On the concluding day of the session, the children will also make a short films. The winners of the film festival which has been conducted by the state government will lead the training programme on filmmaking. ‘Kavi arangu’ for children will also be held. District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth will inaugurate the function on Wednesday. S Chandrasenan, vice-president, District Child Welfare Society, will preside over the function. C P Pallippuram, winner of Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award for children’s literature, Yash K Malavika, winner of Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award for best child artiste and Devkrishna S Nath, winner of the best director award in the film festival conducted by the state education department will be the chief guests.The films will be screened from 5.30 pm. Those who would like to participate in the programmes can contact the office at Children’s Park.Children can also opt for training in skating which will be conducted from 7.30 am to 9.30 am and 4.30 pm till 6.30 pm. The course fee is `1000 for two months.
