HYDERABAD: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president G Kishan Reddy has demanded that the CBI should be directed to investigate the rackets active in moving Ongole breed of bulls and buffaloes to cities like Kolkata and abroad to make mega-bucks.In a letter to the chief minister, Kishan Reddy said he came to know that on February 5 people in Nakkapalli in Visakhapatnam had intercepted a container in which 124 bulls and buffaloes were being transported.The bulls, worth lakhs of rupees, were being sent to Bangladesh via Kolkata and from there to destinations abroad. He said he came to know that the bulls were sold at a premimum in countries like Brazil and Switzerland for their semen and the genetic code.If these bulls were crossed with cows and she buffaloes, the offspring would be much better variants. The estimated value of the 124 bulls was Rs 2-6 crore.In the case of one breed, the hide was worth Rs 3 lakh and its horns too would fetch more or less the same price in markets abroad, he said.The hump of the bulls was unique and the bones too had special composition of chemicals that are used in treatment of diseases in Arab countries.
