Principal held for misbehaving with student

HYDERABAD: The principal of a private school at KPHB Colony was on Tuesday thrashed by the relatives of a girl student, who alleged that he had misbehaved with her. They later handed him over to the police who remanded him to judicial custody. Though the school was closed on Tuesday on account of a bandh call given by a student organisation, the principal had allowed the girl inside the school premises and allegedly misbehaved with her, police said.The incident took place in the Little Flower Grammar High School at HMT Hills in Kukatpally Housing Board Colony. The school was kept closed today due to the bandh call by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) student organisation. The principal, 54-year-old Y Sambashiva Rao, had not informed the holiday to students yesterday. The principal resides in the school premises along with his wife and two children.According to KPHB police sub-inspector Sri Rangam, students began coming to school as usual in the morning. “Sambashiva Rao stood in front of the gate and told the students to go back home due to the bandh,” the SI said. However, he did not inform the same to a class X girl, who proceeded to her classroom as usual. The girl is a resident of HMT Hills and has been studying in the school for the past seven years.After some time, Sambashiva Rao went to her classroom and asked her to study. “Even as the girl was studying, Sambashiva Rao allegedly misbehaved with her. The girl, however, managed to free herself and escaped from the school,” Sri Rangam said.She rushed to her house and informed her parents about the incident. The girl’s father, who is the owner of a gym in the same locality and who also runs a lorry workshop, rushed to the spot along with his friends and relatives. They thrashed Sambashiva Rao and handed him over to the police, who registered a case under section 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman) and arrested Sambashiva Rao. This is the second incident of abuse in schools in two days. Yesterday, a class VIII student of a concept school at Bachupally was allegedly beaten up by school warden for taking an ipod charger without permission.
