BANGALORE: The husband of a missing woman has taken the Hulimavu police for a ride by giving contradictory statements.First he said his wife was kidnapped, later he confessed that he had murdered his wife. When he was taken to Mulabagal to find out the body, he astonished police by saying that his wife might have eloped with someone.This has sent the police into a tizzy.The caseVanajakshi (26), a resident of Gottigere, off Bannerghatta Road, had gone missing on Friday and her father had later filed a missing case in Hulimavu police station.He also suspected her husband Vinay Kumar’s role behind the incident.When the police started quizzing Vinay (34), who runs a fancy store, he said that some miscreants had performed black magic against her and hence she was not feeling well since a few days and suspected that somebody has kidnapped her. When the police went to his house for inspection, vermilion, turmeric and other things used for black magic were found in front of his house.When the police further questioned him about persons on whom he had suspicion of kidnapping his wife, he reportedly did not come out with a clear answer.When police started grilling him, he allegedly confessed that he had murdered his wife over a trivial issue and had dumped the body at Mulabagal near Kolar.Scouting for bodyImmediately, the police took him there to recover the body. By afternoon, they reached Mulabagal and Vinay took them to several places to show them ‘the body’.Till evening, he took the police to various places and later, to the awe of police, reportedly said that he confessed of killing his wife being unable to bear the ‘torture’ of the police and said that he had not committed murder.When again police questioned them he suspected that his wife might have eloped with someone.Confused by his various versions, the police team returned to the city by night.However, the mystery behind Vanajakshi’s missing has still continued.The police are further questioning Vinay to know what exactly happened.
