CHENNAI: Councillors of the PMK, the CPI and an Independent staged a walkout from the monthly meeting of the Council here on Monday after Mayor M Subramanian ordered expunction of their demand for a resolution for clemency to Rajiv Gandhi’s killers.CPI members Meena and Subramani, and an Independent member V Prabhu raised the issue in the House and sought the Mayor’s attention. Though the Mayor denied it saying that the subject was not linked to the Corporation, Congress councillors shouted slogans against them for raising the issue. But the three members continued with their demand and the Mayor ordered expunction of the remarks.The same issue was raised again by a PMK councillor. The Mayor announced expunging of the member’s remarks and all PMK councillors staged a walkout.
