K M Shajahan, former additional private secretary of V S Achuthanandan, on Friday, filed a petition before the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate court seeking a directive to set aside the final report filed by the CBI in the Unnithan murder attempt case.
He also sought a directive to conduct further investigation on the involvement and criminal complicity of S Sreejith, DIG, Kannur range, and SP Sam Christy Daniel, CBCID, EOW, Kollam. The CBI had filed the charge sheet against the five accused in the case. Magistrate P Sasidharan adjourned the hearing of the case to July 25. Further, the petitioner also sought a directive to investigate the circumstances which led to the murder of Rajesh alias Happy Rajesh. He submitted that there was intervention on the part of the top police officers in the investigation.
“It is crystal clear from the act of the CBI that they are not exposing the truth. The culprits in the case are being shielded. The CBI has saved top police officials, Sreejith and Sam Christy,” the petitioner stated.
The involvement of S Sreejith and Sam Christy, especially in tampering with the evidence, influencing the investigation team and protecting the criminals must be looked into. The statements made by DySP Santhosh Nair and Container Santhosh clearly state the role of DIG Sreejith in diverting the case to protect the real culprits. He had insisted Santhosh Nair and Container Santhosh not to disclose the name of Abdul Rasheed and the other two police officers involved.
