The Corporation in association with Nippon Kerala Centre (ASA Kerala) is organising an exhibition of photographs, on-the-spot paintings on the theme ‘World Peace’ and a documentary screening on August 6, the World Peace Day.
The day on which Hiroshima was bombed in 1947 is observed as World Peace Day.
The celebrations will be held at Ernakulam Town Hall from 11 am. The public meeting at 5.30 pm will have Mayor Tony Chammany. Ernakulam MLA Hibi Eaden and Cusat former VC M V Pylee will also speak.
As part of the Peace Day observance an essay competition is also being organised for students in and around Ernakulam on the theme ‘World Peace- Today, Tomorrow’.
The essay can be written in English or Malayalam.
Entries should be from students of Classes 5 to 10 and should be certified by the headmaster or principal of the school. It should be sent to Nippon Kerala Centre at Kinfra Hi-Tech Park Education Zone, Kalamassery by August 1.
The essay could be written in English or Malayalam and should be limited to 500 words. The winners will be announced at a public meeting to be held on August 6. Winners will presented mementos.
