Patna: In a heinous double murder in Patna on Thursday, a man allegedly killed his wife and son. The murders took place in Jakanpur Railway Colony on Thursday afternoon.
The accused, railway TTE Manoj Kumar Verma, killed his 40-year-old wife Ruby Verma and 12-year-old son Harsh. His daughter Ruhi, who was in school at the time of the crime, survived.
According to Ruhi when she returned from school at around 3 pm she found her father laying unconscious on the sofa while her mother and brother were found dead in the bedroom.
Police and neighbours rushed Verma to a hospital where he claimed that robbers had killed his wife, son and injured him.
However, after sustained interrogation he confessed that he had killed his wife and son. He also admitted that after killing his wife and son he took sleeping pills and laid down on the sofa to make it look like a robbery attempt.
Ruby Verma's relatives allege that Manoj and his family members used to torture her a lot and had even tried to kill her earlier. According to them Manoj was also involved in an illicit relationship.
