BANGALORE: Opposition members in the Assembly staged a walk-out in protest against the state government’s refusal to refer the issue of Pre-university question paper leaks to the CBI.“We are dissatisfied with the minister’s reply. Nothing will come out of the CID; we demand a CBI enquiry as powerful people are suspected to have been involved,” Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah said, to which Primary Education Minister Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri asserted that the CID was doing a thorough job.“It is not appropriate to terminate the probe now...we can think of other probes later,” he said.‘Will Unravel PU Question Paper Leaks’ Earlier in the Council, Kageri admitted that the question paper mafia could be involved in the leaks of PUC papers and added that the state government was determined to expose them.“We are committed to punish the culprits severely. I am confident that the CID probe will bring out the truth,” Kageri added to the issue raised by the Opposition members.Kageri added that there would be no attempt to make some people scapegoats.Kageri while explaining the steps involved in preparing the question paper till its distribution to examination hall, said: “The CID probe will also let us know the lacunae in the system.” Kageri denied the allegation of Abdul Azeem of JD(S) that the CID was a dumpyard for inefficient officers and hence no meaningful outcome can be expected.Earlier, senior member M C Nanaiah, demanded the setting up of a special investigation team.
