'Udta Punjab' starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh is expected to release on June 17.
Mumbai: Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor starrer 'Udta Punjab' is unlikely to have any reference to Punjab after the Revising Committee of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) directed 89 cuts in the movie, sources said on Monday.
The committee also said that the movie, which is based on the drugs menace in Punjab, cannot refer to the state except in the title.
The filmmakers have been asked to remove all references to any cities in Punjab while 35 instances of cuss words should also be cut.
'Udta Punjab' producers are contemplating going to the Bombay High Court directly and skipping the film tribunal.
The ruling Shiromani Akali Dal had raised objections to the film.
