The Shri Isari Velap Mission Hospital, floated by educationist and founder of the Vels University, Ishari Ganesh in memory of his father Isari Velan, who served as Deputy Minister in the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M G Ramachandran’s ministry, will be celebrating palliative care week till October 13.
The celebration will culminate with a students’ rally on the Marina on October 13, on World Hospice Palliative Care Day.Over 1500 students from various schools and colleges of Chennai will participate in the rally to create awareness on palliative care.
The doctors will also be conducting a major health camp for villagers around Tiruporur
The hospital is organising several lectures, in which social workers and doctors will dwell on the need of palliative care. A quiz programme is also being organised online. All the participants will be given a certificate, besides, the winners of the quiz will be awarded prizes.
Shri Isari Velan Mission Hospital, specialising in palliative care to cancer patients, was inaugurated three months ago.
Hospital authorities had earmarked a major portion of the 150-bed facility for the poor and had been providing free treatment to them.
