Pakistan asks the Indian Government to improve security measures for the train in the Indian territory.

New Delhi: Pakistan has asked India to share details about the investigations into the Samjhauta Express blasts.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz raised the demand ahead of the first meeting of the joint anti-terror mechanism on March 6 and 7.

He was speaking at a function organised in Karachi to give compensation cheques to the next of the kin killed in the tragedy.

"As the investigation into the incident progresses, we should also be informed about this," PTI quoted Aziz as saying.

Aziz said that he would appeal to the Indian Government to apprise Pakistan of the results of the investigation and stressed that immediate and stern action be initiated against those responsible for this incident.

"There is no doubt it is an act of terrorism in which innocent people were killed," he said.

The Indian delegation led by K C Singh, Additional Secretary of Ministry of External Affairs, will arrive in Islamabad on Monday to take part in the maiden meeting of the Indo-Pak joint terror mechanism.

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan has asked the Indian Government to improve security measures for the train in the Indian territory as this incident was a security lapse.

He said that with better security arrangements such incidents can be prevented. Aziz said that he had detailed discussion with the Indian Prime Minister who has assured that as soon as the inquiry reaches its conclusion, he would share the results with the government of Pakistan.

He said Pakistan has made adequate security arrangements for the Indian trains and buses plying in Pakistani territory.

At least 68 people were killed in the explosions in two coaches of Samjhauta train near Panipat.
