BANGALORE: The Lokayukta Special Court, on Saturday, reserved its order on the anticipatory bail petition filed by BJP MLA of Yelahanka  S R Vishwanath till January 10. Earlier during the arguments, the Lokayukta’s Special Public Prosecutor (SPP), Umakanthan, filed objections for granting anticipatory anticipatory bail to the legislator. He argued that it would not be correct if the accused was granted bail as the investigation against him was in progress. However,  Judge N K Sudheendra Rao  questioned him why the police have not arrested him yet if his arrest was that important. For this, the Lokayukta SPP submitted that the police had not arrested him as they found that it was not necessary at this stage of investigation. Meanwhile, Vishwanath’s counsel requested the court to grant anticipatory bail as the accused was facing the fear of arrest.  “Even the SPP has informed the Court that arrest was not necessary at this stage. It means that the accused might be arrested any moment. Moreover, the case itself is politically motivated,” the counsel argued. Later, the Judge reserved his order and adjourned the hearing till January 10. Vishwanath, a former HAL employee, and his wife were accused of possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income and the Lokayukta police had carried out a raid on his residence recently.
