Mumbai: Contrary to the reported cold war between Bollywood's biggest icons, filmmaker Karan Johar says that there is no problem between Shah Rukh Khan and the Bachchans.
"As far as I know there is no problem between the Bachchans and SRK," Karan said in an interview to 'People' magazine.
"I have never been asked to choose between the two as both are extremely sensible and emotionally evolved families," he said.
Karan said Shah Rukh has taken his father's place in his life and he will stand by the superstar rock solid in every phase of his life.
Speaking about his relationship with the Bachchans, Karan said he had grown up with Shweta and Abhishek and has the deepest love and regard for Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan. "It is a bond and relationship that has been built over the years and will go on for years," he said.
"SRK is a global phenomenon. When you have that kind of stardom, other people will go through pangs of insecurities and envies. Every time any one is in power, some one will try to displace him and that will go on," Karan said about the much publicised spat between SRK and Salman Khan.
Karan did not rule out a possibility of working with Salman. "If there is an opportunity, a film and a screenplay that needs his presence, I think I would," he said.
Karan said SRK's wife Gauri was his soulmate. "SRK is not my friend. He is my older brother. I place him in my father's position in my life. If I am in a professional mess, I will make the first call to him. And If I am in an emotional mess, Gauri will be the first to know." he added.
He said stories about his promixity to Shah Rukh have never made his relationship awkward with Gauri. "We laugh about this all the time. Initially, the talks did anger me. But then I became indifferent and now it amuses me. It's ridiculous," he added.
