No place for Ganguly in XI: Shastri
Former Indian captain Ravi Shastri says that the decision to include Sourav Ganguly in the playing XI was not a wise decision.

New Delhi: Former Indian captain Ravi Shastri described the Indian think tank's decision to include Sourav Ganguly as a weak one and criticised the management for including the left-hander in the playing XI.

He, however ruled out the intervention of BCCI president Sharad Pawar.

"Sharad Pawar is a powerful man. He will not use these powers in influencing the selection of the side," he said.

"Having met him a couple of times and after having interacted with him, I do not think he will be involved in petty things like this. He will leave that to the management - captain, coach and the vice captain." the former Indian captain said.

Asked about the reason he thought as to why Sourav was selected Shastri said," That's a team management's decision. If you ask me for my choice, he would not have fitted into my XI. I think it's a weak decision."

"I think its short sighted and if you are looking into the future of Indian cricket, I don't think this is a wise decision as well. Because, if he is going to open the innings, what have you taken three specialist openers there for?"

"If Sourav Ganguly should have played in the side, he should have replaced Tendulkar,Dravid, Yuvraj singh or Laxman. Tell me who will you drop amongst these?"

What's your reaction?
