No legal bar on Ashok Chavan to contest Lok Sabha elections: Sonia

New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday defended the party's decision to give election ticket to Adarsh housing scam accused Ashok Chavan who will be contesting from Nanded.

"The decision to give Ashok Chavan the ticket has been taken by the CEC. As far as we know, he has not been barred from contesting any election by the law or the Election Commission," she said at an event to release the party manifesto for the 2014 elections.

Chavan filed his nomination papers from Nanded on Wednesday.
