In the latest development on the Pathankot terrorist attack, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has asked Gurdaspur Superintendent of Police Salwinder Singh to appear before the sleuths once again on Tuesday.
Sources said, on Monday evening NIA officers contacted Singh and asked him to appear before them on Tuesday to cross check few leads revealed by his cook Madan Gopal. The exact reason behind his summon is yet to be known but it seems that he is likely to face polygraph test.
Salwinder Singh had claimed that he, along with his cook and a friend, were abducted by terrorists on his way back from Panj Pir shrine. Singh has been under the scanner for giving contradictory versions of his story.
"As his examination was not completed, he is being summoned for questioning on Tuesday," MHA sources said.
It was learnt that Singh’s cook - Madan Gopal – has revealed some vital information, which Singh reportedly preferred to keep quit before the investigating agency.
"Madan Gopal will be called for questioning at NIA headquarters in Delhi and the date of his questioning will be intimated in due course," MHA sources said.
The NIA had issued summons to Singh, who is at present Assistant Commandant of 75th battalion of Punjab Armed Police, to appear before the agency for questioning after they found discrepancies in his statement on his location a day before the Pathankot terror attack.
Meanwhile, a 10 member NIA team, led by a DIG, has continued the search operation in the area where the encounter of terrorists took place in Pathankot. One AK-47 magazine, a mobile phone and a binocular were recovered from the scene of crime.
A black corner notice is being issued to the Interpol for identification of the four dead bodies of the slain terrorists.
NIA teams are also examining witnesses connected to the case.
