BHUBANESWAR: The BJP on Tuesday demanded a probe by an independent agency into the properties of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in Haryana and Delhi.Alleging that the Chief Minister has understated the value of his assets in the recently submitted property list, BJP spokesperson Ashok Sahu claimed that the value of Patnaik’s property would be more that ` 200 crore which he had shown as about ` 12 crore.Patnaik has valued his farmland and building over 22.7 acres at Tikrikhera village in Faridabad district of Haryana at ` 3.34 crore while the actual value of the property far exceeds that, Sahu told mediapersons. The BJP State vice-president further alleged that the actual value of the Chief Minister’s houses at 3 Aurangzeb Road in New Delhi, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack were much more than what Patnaik had shown in the property statement.Sahu demanded a clarification from the Chief Minister for the deliberate “undervaluation” of his properties.A Chief Minister Office spokesman, however, on November 6 had claimed that the value of Patnaik’s properties increased following a hike in the property rates in Haryana and Delhi in the last two years.
