CID sleuths on Wednesday arrested a Naga woman for cheating several depositors of Rs 11 crores. A CID spokesperson said that it would attach the properties of the accused, Rosemary Jamir, secretary of the Tropogan Farmer's Society. Rosemanry, who hails from Dimapur in Nagaland, appointed seven executive members in Andhra Pradesh to collect money from investors, who in turn appointed 52 agents for the same.
The agents collected Rs 24.70 crore and disbursed Rs 13.70 crores to the investors to gain their confidence for further investments. The society suddenly shut shop and disappeared with Rs 11 crores. She was arrested in Vijayawada and cases under various sections of the IPC were registered in the Kavali II Town police station of Nellore district.
Investigations revealed that the society also opened an office at Dilshuknagar in the city which was maintained for about eight months and then closed suddenly.
CID officials said lands and buildings were purchased by the executive members in Nellore and Krishna districts. "We have identified several properties in this regard which will be attached," CID officials said.
