A 40-year-old man who remained elusive in connection with a 2007 murder case was arrested here on Saturday.
Jaysingh from Uttar Pradesh was accused of murdering Rambabu (45) whose body was found on May 8, 2007. Three other accused - Gangaram (43) and his son Prakash (23) from Uttar Pradesh and Munna alias Munnalal (27) from Madhya Pradesh - have already been arrested.
Aminjikkarai Sub Inspector Syed Moinudeen and head constable Parthiban searched for the accused in his native village, Gram Kharra in Jalaun District in Uttar Pradesh, based on a specific information and arrested him on August 30
Hoax bomb threat
A hoax bomb threat was received at AGS multiplex cinemas in Villivakkam on Saturday evening. Police said that the call was made at 5.30 pm, by when the matinee shows were over and the audience had left. Without allowing the audience inside the multiplex for the next show, the Bomb Detection and Defusal Squad searched the theatre following which the call was declared a hoax
EB staff robbed
A Junior Engineer at the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) was robbed of `3.9 lakh from his bike’s box here on Saturday. Police said R Rajesh, a resident of Irungattukottai, was on his way to buy a piece of land, armed with `3.9 Lakh. He parked his bike outside an ATM outlet in Mudichur and went in to withdraw `10,000 more.
When he returned he found that the box attached to his bike was broken and the entire amount missing.
