New Delhi: The United States search engine Google's social network site Orkut.com, which is in the thick of controversy for allowing a hate group campaign against India, has some interesting studies on the site.
The site, which has distinct interest groups, has President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam as the most popular Indian leader.
Of the many communities on the orkut, comprising millions of members stating personal views on a variety of subjects, President Kalam fascinated maximum appreciation leaving out all political leaders from India.
He has been widely appreciated over individuals like Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Bhraratiya Janata Party leader Atal Behari Vajpayee and Lal Kishan Advani and even Mahtma Gandhi.
The number of community groups for Kalam stands at 17, with the top group showing 31,103 fans. This is way ahead of Manmohan Singh's sole group having just 413 members a majority of them questioning his leadership qualities.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi despite being portrayed as 'favourite leader' of the young blood only finds five groups, three of them hate groups, mentioned under her name. Her top group comprises 1,520 members. Interestingly, there is no hate group against Kalam.
Former Prime Minster and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Atal Behari Vajpayee's name finds three groups related to it with no hate group. His top group comprises 1,883 members. His counterpart in the BJP, L K Advani, has just one group with 170 members showing a mixed response to his political jugglery.
On the other hand, Congress leader and Human Resource Minister Arjun Singh has earned a dubious distinction as the most hated politician with 22 hate groups, with the top group having 3,609 members.
Singh is way ahead of the BJP leader and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi who has a total of six groups with just two hate groups.
In all the groups, Singh has earned the ire of youngsters for his pro-reservation stance.
Among various topics of public debates, which can be initiated by any of the members, one finds a special mention as it goes to the extent of asking suggestions about killing Arjun Singh.
Posted on the community group named "Arjun Singh-torture him", the debate is on "How do you want to kill him….". It has received 94 posts from group members.
A search through the communities showed that there were at least 1,475 with the word "hate" included in their names.
