Pune:A minor explosion took place outside the Faraskhana police station in Pune on Thursday in which three people have been injured.

Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad was at the spot and has called it a low-intensity explosion. "It is a low intensity explosion. Either something kept in the dicky of a bike or kept on it has exploded," the ATS said.

The Home Ministry is in touch with the Maharashtra authorities. "We are in touch with the Maharashtra authorities, can't comment on the nature of the blast yet. Details are awaited," the MHA said.

Pune Commissioner of Police Satish Mathur said an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was used and the explosive was planted in the luggage carrier of the motor bike.

Mathur also said that some ball bearings and nails were found at the spot and have been sent for forensic examination.

"Total three people have suffered minor injuries. ‎We are investigating from all angles. The bike on which this was kept is a stolen one", said Mathur.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh said "Our Home secretary has asked state DGP for a report. Can't rule out anything at the moment. Let the report come."
