Barcelona routed Bayern Munich in the first leg of Champions League quarters.

New Delhi: The Argentine genius is wary of the Bavarian threat as he refused to think about a Champions League semi-final date with a Premier League rival.

Barcelona romped to a sensational 4-0 win over Bayern Munich last week in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals at the Camp Nou to plant one foot in the last four of the competition.

However, with still another 90 minutes to play, young sensation Lionel Messi not looking ahead to a semi-final clash with either Chelsea or Liverpool just yet.

"We will play like we always do because if we choose to defend, we can complicate things," he was quoted as saying by Marca.

"Bayern have very good players in all positions and they are capable of doing harm. We must maintain the same mentality we had in the first leg and attack them," he added, before citing the infamous Copa del Rey semi-final elimination to Getafe back in 2007 (despite winning the first leg 5-2) as an example.

When asked how the Bavarians themselves will approach the encounter at the Allianz Arena against his side, Messi replied, "They will try to get an early goal to pressure us, as well as to fire up their own fans. "But if we score first, then it will be very difficult for them."

Finally, Messi touched on the potential semi-final showdown with either Chelsea or Liverpool.

"We know that the English will make things complicated because they are always difficult opponents, especially in this competition. But first, we have to finish our job in Munich," he stressed.
