Mathematics Year kick-starts

KOCHI:  The national mathematics year will be celebrated by the students, alumni and staff of the Department of Mathematics, Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat),   on Thursday.Prof R Vittal Rao, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, will inaugurate the programme at the Mathematics Auditorium at 1.45 pm. He will give lectures on ‘Basis - from the Viewpoint of an Algebraist, an analyst and a user’ and ‘Fibonacci Sequence , recurrence relations and simulation of probability distributions’.Professor K S S Namboothiripad, former Head of the Department of Mathematics, University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram, will preside over the function.
