Maoists gun down cop

MALKANGIRI: In a gruesome incident further vitiating the negotiation process, Maoists shot dead SI KC Rath at Khairapat, some 60 km from here, on Thursday evening.  Reports said four to five armed rebels pumped bullets into  Rath when he was having tea at a stall near the police station around 6.15 pm. The Maoists melted in the nearby forest soon after. Rath was rushed to the hospital but  was declared brought-dead.  The place is hardly one km from a BSF camp. Later jawans cordoned off the market.
