Maoist threat calls to civic staff fake: Cops

JEYPORE: The threat calls to two officials of Jeypore Municipality from Maoists were found to be hoax during an inquiry by police. The internal squabble in the municipality is suspected to be the main reason behind the threat calls to the two officials.According to reports, Jeypore Municipality Executive Officer AK Malick and health officer RK Sarkar received repeated threat calls during night hours by some unidentified persons, who claimed to be Maoists.Jeypore municipal vice-chairperson SN Rath demanded immediate inquiry into the issue and Jeypore police registered a case.Police tracked the mobile numbers and found those to be registered under fake names and not that of Maoists, said  Jeypore Sub-divisional Police Officer UR Dash.
