THODUPUZHA: The long arm of law caught up with CPM Idukki district secretary M M Mani on Monday when police booked him under various charges, including murder, conspiracy and abetment to conspiracy.Following the storm kicked up by his speech at Thodupuzha on Friday, DGP Jacob Punnose had directed the district police to peruse the case diaries of the three murders of political rivals which Mani had allegedly referred to.The cases were registered under Sections 302, 109 and 118 of IPC after getting the green signal from legal experts. Mani had landed in controversy by stating in his speech that the CPM had earlier finished off its rivals in Idukki. Though he had retracted his statements, this was not enough to reduce the seriousness of his admission. According to sources, it would take more time for the police to peruse the case diaries and analyse the confessions. Only after that he may be arrested. He is a resident of Kunjithanni, Devikulam.
