BANGALORE: Karnataka High Court has asked state government to submit a proposal, informing how it plans to control man-animal conflicts.The HC on Monday directed the committee headed by Principal Secretary (Forest, Ecology and Environment) to hold a meeting to prepare the proposal and specify the areas of conflict along with priority areas.The HC said the committee should submit the proposal to Centre within two weeks and a report on it to the HC within four weeks.The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice H G Ramesh was hearing the suo moto case related to elephant deaths in the state. The directive to the state government came after the Centre submitted that it had allocated `20 crore to control man-animal conflict in the 13 affected states and would release the first instalment of `2.13 crore soon.The Centre had further submitted that it had financial constraints and if the state government sent a proposal to solve man-animal conflict and priority areas then funds for the state would be released on priority basis.The six-member committee that has been asked to prepare the proposal includes chief wildlife warden, a senior counsel appointed by the HC and member secretary to legal services authority.
