Lok Sabha Proceedings Adjourned Till Friday Amid Opposition Uproar
In the Rajya Sabha, Electronics and Information Technology Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, was forced to cut short his statement on Pegasus snooping controversy amid uproar by the opposition members.

The Lok Sabha proceedings were repeatedly adjourned on Thursday amid sloganeering by Opposition members over various issues, including three recent farm laws. When the House re-assembled at 4 pm after the repeated adjournments, the uproarious scenes continued even as Bhartruhari Mahtab, who was in the Chair, asked the protesting members to go back to their seats.

However, the Opposition members did not relent, forcing the Chair to adjourn the proceedings for the day. The Lok Sabha will meet at 11 am on Friday.

Earlier, the proceedings were adjourned thrice and the last adjournment was till 4 pm. The Opposition members raised slogans over a range of issues, including the Pegasus snooping row and demanding a rollback of the three farm fills.

“Members seem to be not interested in discussing people’s issues,” Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said as he adjourned the proceedings in the upper house.

While leaders from the Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal targeted the government on the contentious farm laws, Trinamool Congress members gathered near the Speaker’s podium raising the Pegasus snooping issue. They raised slogans and sought answers from the Prime Minister.

The protests continued despite Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi saying the government was ready to discuss any topic. “Rajya Sabha had a discussion on Covid…We are ready for discussion on whatever topic you want…Question Hour is a right of every member,” Joshi said according to a PTI report.
