BANGALORE: The city police commissioner has issued an order banning sale of liquor in several areas on Saturday and Monday as Ganesha idol processions have been organised across the city by various organisations. The Ganesha Seva Samithi will hold procession of 32 Ganesha idols on J C Nagar Main Road and Pemmegowda Road Junction.Bars, pubs and wine stores falling under J C Nagar, Hebbal, R T Nagar, Sanjaynagar, D J Halli , K G Halli, Bharathinagar and Pulikeshinagar police station limits will remain closed from 6 am on Saturday till 6 am on Sunday.Hindu Jagaran Vedike and other organisations will also hold processions at Thanisandra, Nagawara, K G Halli, Venkateshpura, Govindapura, Sarayipalya, Yasin Nagar, Doddana Nagar, Modi Road, Shampur and surrounding areas.Due to this bars and wine stores under Hennur, Bharathinagar, K J Halli, D J Halli, Banasawadi and Pulikeshinagar police station limits will be closed from 6 am to 10.30 pm on Monday.The order has been issued as large number of people are expected to take part in the events and some of the areas are reportedly communally sensitive.Meanwhile, sale of liquor is also banned under Commercial Street, Shivajinagar, Bharathinagar, Pulikeshinagar and Halasur police station limits on Sunday, in wake of processions.The ban will be effective in all the communally sensitive areas from 9 am to 9 pm on Sunday.
